I 100% agree with you. Something that you will find common among people in Information Technology is that few can define such terms, let alone perform a proof of Information Theory on the board or tell you anything about entropy. This implies that this field is not only approaching matters empirically but also in a manner devoid of a priori knowledge. However, I do not see how the world as a whole would be made worse if philosophy was made a core area of study as opposed to an elective. Excellent write-up regardless!
